Love's Changing Seasons
The trees are empty,
And the branches are quite bare.
Leaves once possessing awesome color
Are no longer there.
Fall always carries many thoughts.
Old memories surface near,
Reminding me how things of beauty
Can fade, then disappear.
Like the wind whistles through barren trees,
So do you in my memories.
Just as the seasons will unfold,
Love sometimes goes from hot to cold.
The leaves get swept away,
Along with yesterday.
Yesterday.
Yes, winter has arrived,
I'm buried deep within this snow.
Retreating inside, warm and secure,
There's no place I want to go.
This winter storm shall pass,
Better days shall return, no doubt.
For now I must be patient.
I must ride this damn storm out!
Like the wind whistles through barren trees,
So do you in my memories.
Just as the seasons will unfold,
Love sometimes goes from hot to cold.
The leaves get swept away,
Along with yesterday.
Yesterday.
The winter has now passed.
I now feel the warmth of spring.
Buds and flowers, and new growth,
Listen to those Robins sing!
Fresh new air is all around me.
The past seasons I've now forgot
I've found new love, and it's so fine.
Things are getting hot!
Like the wind whistles through barren trees,
So do you in my memories.
Just as the seasons will unfold,
Love sometimes goes from hot to cold.
The leaves get swept away,
Along with yesterday.
Yesterday.
