THE LAST SENIOR CITIZEN
Every time a senior citizen dies,
It's more than another human being,
Another valuable pair of eyes is lost,
And all which they have seen.
The many changes in our lifestyles,
Stories of how it used to be.
Our wise advice is going silent,
Along with ethics and morality.
One at a time they're leaving us,
So are values and integrity.
The world now lives far away
From how we used to be.
These elders knew what they were saying.
Their words were kept at any cost.
Marriages worked and survived,
Just another thing that we've lost.
Pride was taken in their jobs,
Almost everyone seemed to care.
They prayed and ate together.
The yesteryear's are no longer there.
The very last fiber is about to snap.
Which holds together our family ties.
Who will tell us of how life used to be
If the last senior citizen dies?
