Daddy's Little Girl

The first time that I saw you,
I saw the very best part of me
As I turned my eyes unto the Lord
And thanked Him gratefully
For letting an angel slip away
And land here in my heart.
Oh, I've been blessed with you, my child,
Right from the very start.

How can this be,
The Lord doing this for me?
He's given me much more than I deserve.
You took control of my very soul
When you arrived upon this Earth.
You've been daddy's little girl since birth.

It all started when you learned to walk
And you took those steps all on your own.
Then came the first day of kindergarden,
My, how quickly you have grown.
Next it was your graduation,
Off to college as you moved away.
Then I gave you to another man
On your wedding day.

How can this be,
The Lord doing this for me?
He's given me much more than I deserve.
You took control of my very soul
When you arrived upon this Earth.
You've been daddy's little girl since birth.

So I sought out a quiet place
And raised my head up high.
I said, " Lord, this is very hard."
He saw this grown man cry.
"I've spent a lifetime of letting go of her
With every stage that she's gone through."
GOD said," I know that it's difficult,
I felt the same when I gave her to you."

How can this be,
The Lord doing this for me?
He's given me much more than I deserve.
You took control of my very soul
When you arrived upon this Earth.
You've been daddy's little girl since birth.

Thank you, Lord, for sharing her with me!
